Meeting safely

Habits for the first viewing.

  • Meet first in a public place, or bring someone with you.
  • Tell a friend where you're going and when you expect to be back.
  • View the property in daylight, and skip going alone for a first visit.
  • If something feels off, trust that and leave -- you don't owe anyone an explanation.

Money safety

Where nearly every rental scam starts.

  • Never pay a deposit or token/booking amount before you've viewed the property in person and confirmed the person actually has the right to let it.
  • Be wary of anyone who rushes you to pay, won't do a video call or in-person meeting, or asks you to pay into an account that doesn't match who you're dealing with.

flatjugaad.in never asks you to pay a deposit through us, and we never hold your money. Any message claiming otherwise is not from us.

Sharing personal information

What stays private, and for how long.

  • Your phone number and email stay hidden until you both agree to talk.
  • Move to a private channel only once you're comfortable -- there's no rush.
  • Don't share your Aadhaar, PAN, or bank details with another user, ever. Verification happens through us -- never person-to-person.

Reporting and what happens next

What we do once you tell us.

  • We review every safety report within 24 hours. Every report you file gets a review deadline the moment it's submitted, and we track it.
  • After review, we act on the account -- a warning, a suspension, or removal, depending on what we find.

For anything involving immediate danger or a crime, contact the police first, on 112 (the all-India emergency number). Reporting to us is not a substitute for that.

Your safety controls

Two switches that are yours to use.

  • Blocking stops that person from messaging you.
  • Women-only listings: mark a room women-only in the listing's preferences and it's hidden from everyone except signed-in members who have completed identity verification and whose profile says female. Signed-out visitors never see it, and neither does an unverified account.
  • To see women-only listings yourself: create an account and complete verification. Until you're verified they stay hidden, and you can't send an interest on one.

Being verified confirms someone's identity, not their gender -- we check who a person is, never what their ID says about them. It means anyone reaching a women-only listing has a real, verified identity behind their account, so misuse can be traced and banned for good. Treat it as raising the bar, not a guarantee about who's on the other side.
